The GP Racer Choice forged piston from VERTEX is designed for the 2023 KAWASAKI KX 450. Its construction combines a forged aluminum design with piston compression designed for racing.

Function and construction

The shape and design of the piston crown are designed to improve the flame front and achieve a higher compression ratio. A special treatment limits friction. Reinforcements increase the stability of the piston structure and thereby limit the deformation of the piston crown.

The piston includes a short, chamfered piston pin with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) treatment and a clip with an external nose. This design prevents the clip from rotating at high engine speeds. The very thin “GNH” piston ring is made of high-strength steel.
