Complete Dakar kit for the BMW R 12 G/S

This extensive conversion kit brings the distinctive look of the Paris–Dakar Rally and classic BMW GS models from the 1980s to the BMW R 12 G/S. It combines the matte black long-range tank with fairing, ergonomics, protection and exhaust components to create a complete functional conversion.

Tank and fairing

• Oversized nylon fuel tank in Matte Night Black with a capacity of approximately 25 liters, providing 10 liters more than the original
• Manufacturer-stated range of over 450 km
• The tank weighs 1,7 kg less than the original and is supplied painted, ready to install and with graphics under clear coat.
• The original fuel cap, fuel pump and activated carbon filter are reused; the low-fuel warning light also remains functional.
• Fenouil fairing made from ABS in the style of the legendary R80 GS PD; it replaces the original windshield and provides additional wind protection.
• ABS rear fender with lines inspired by the GS models of the 1980s; replaces the original trim under the seat

Ergonomics and seat area

• Comfort steel handlebar with crossbar, constant diameter of 22 mm and matte black epoxy powder coating
• Higher than the original handlebar and more comfortably curved for a more relaxed riding position
• Compatible with heated grips; no modifications to cables or brake lines are required.
• Correctly drilled and prepared for the original handlebar risers and controls
• Classic handlebar pad with Unit Garage logo, 23,5 cm long and 6 cm in diameter
• Rally seat cover made from high-quality synthetic leather with an additional foam layer, carrying handle and sealed seams
• Minimalist passenger grab handle made from powder-coated stainless steel that can also help secure luggage and move the motorcycle

Exhaust and protection components

• Handcrafted Akrapovič-Unit Garage silencer made from titanium alloy with carbon sleeve and a weight of 2,1 kg
• Designed for more power and torque as well as a deeper, sportier sound
• Mounts to the original brackets without modifications or engine control unit adjustment
• The standard passenger footrests can be retained.
• Aluminum engine guard made from 3 mm thick Peraluman light alloy with outlet openings and reinforcing ribs; protects the engine, exhaust headers and the particularly exposed area of the catalytic converter
• Pair of crash bars made from 25 mm steel tubing with a 2 mm wall thickness and durable powder coating
• Most maintenance work can be performed without removing the crash bars.
• Pair of CNC-machined engine covers with machined fins and logo

Installation and approval information

• The components are designed for easy Plug & Play installation. The conversion requires no modifications to the original parts and is fully reversible.
• Instructions and video tutorials for the conversion are included.
• The fuel tank is TÜV-tested.
• For the handlebar: test report enclosed (no ABE, no TÜV).
• The exhaust is road legal and fully complies with EURO5+ regulations.
• To install the seat cover, the original seat must be removed, the existing cover unstapled and the new cover carefully secured with new staples. If unsure, installation by an upholsterer is recommended.
• For the passenger grab handle, the two small original brackets for additional straps under the rear fender must be removed; the handle serves the same purpose.

Compatibility and important information

• Fits BMW R 12 G/S model years 2025–2026
• The tank is compatible with most tubular crash bars. However, the specified original BMW crash bars and original auxiliary light brackets are not compatible with this tank.
• The crash bars are compatible with original cylinder head covers and guards as well as corresponding third-party components.
• The exhaust is compatible with Unit Garage luggage racks, but not with the left-side frame for BMW bags.
• The passenger grab handle is compatible with all Unit Garage bag racks.
• The seat cover fits only the original rally seat.
• The BMW logos shown for the tank and rear fender are not included. The original tank logos can be reused with the supplied adhesive tape.
