The book traces the African editions of the Paris-Dakar through the experiences of eight protagonists. The focus is on the challenges, the special moments and the bikes, colors and graphics that helped create the Dakar myth.

The stories provide personal insights into the difficulties and beauty of the race. One of the protagonists represented in the book is Fabio Marcaccini from Unit Garage, whose experiences from the Dakar and later rallies also shaped ideas for Unit Garage's work.
